FEATURED DANCERS
TAP THAT PRODUCTIONS
Tell us a little about your group
Tap That is an innovative celebration of women in tap dance.
Combining funky, fresh footwork, with a cheeky femininity and spunk. Being a
social media world, we create high end videos and crazy cool photoshoots for
worldwide exposure. This group of five eclectic, international dancers consists of our creator and founder Tellina Lee, along with Kate Newham, Jeze Zanich,
Sydney Campbell, Emma Grosjean. Also, Alyson Van and Annie Klucevsek.
How long have you all been dancing for?
Tap That is based out of Los Angeles and consists of 5 core
female Tap Dancers, under the creation of Tellina Lee who was born and raised
in Newcastle, Australia.
Each girl started dancing between the ages of 3 -5 years,
trained in many styles of dance in the USA and Australia.
What styles of dance does your group specialize in?
Tap That is fusing together tap dancing, hoofing, and new
street styles coming from technical tap background. The team also flirt with
other mainstream styles like jazz funk, and burlesque.
What made you want to form this group?
Tellina: I've always had a passion for making the most of
every moment, a crazy commitment to the arts, and the unbridled curiosity to
see how far I can take my creations. I believe creating dance masterpieces,
unique photoshoots and crazy wow factor concepts is my calling. I am very
passionate about what I do, shockingly driven and possibly a workaholic, but
its all with fire in my heart to create.
It was an idea that I had for quite a while, but it was all
about timing and having the time to really dive in and make it happen. I wanted
to fuse together my love for tap dance, for creating, and for film. To put tap
dance into the mainstream and push the boundaries of creation. And this is just
the beginning. I have big plans.
What has been your group's greatest accomplishment:
Creating eye-catching videos and content that we can share
worldwide with audiences online. Also our ability to be adaptable and work on
several projects at once. We work together so well as a team and are willing to
put in the hard work. We all are about positivity, great energy, girl power and
creating a supportive environment where everyone can grow.
Also we are excited to be sponsored by So Danca for all our
custom boots, and Activated Industry in Queensland Australia for our uniforms.
What has been your group's most memorable moment?
Our groups most memorable moment has been our crazy
photoshoots and dance video productions. Being onset and seeing it all come
together is such a high, and is
certainly the perks of all our hard work. Our next video comes out early 2018.
On the funny side however, on stage... our most memorable
moment would be losing our pants. You never think it will happen to you, but
yes our leggings did not perhaps stay up the way we wished. The routine
consisted of us adapting our arms to hold onto those pants mid dance. lol. We
have changed that outfit since.
What has been your group's greatest challenge?
Our greatest challenge has been aligning all of our
schedules. Los Angeles creates an environment of go go go, and we encourage
each other to also say yes to other opportunities that come up and feed the soul. So at times this can cause
scheduling conflicts, but always for good reason.
Another challenge when you are a newer group, is to get the
exposure so people know that you exist and can find you. We are excited for our
group to reach an even larger audience with time.
What advice would you give to other dancers?
Train in tap dance, you never know when you may need that
skill for any other job, and it also keeps your brain on the ball.
Keep working on your craft, you can never stop learning.
And keep following your passions, be grateful, and take
risks. Its fun to step outside the safety zone, get creative dancers.
